PortItalia Construction Visits Learning Springs Academy

PortItalia Construction visited Learning Springs Academy in San Jose today in participation of Community Awareness month. "Contractor Chris Morello" was by far a bigger hit than Bob The Builder! As soon as Contractor Chris was introduced, the preschool and kindergarten classes immediately started raising their hands to ask him questions. He demonstrated a few of his favorite tools and even requested the help of his trusty assistant, Riley, to demonstrate how to safely use a power drill. Riley's friends were so impressed! It was a great day.

PortItalia Donates to Sacred Leaf Benefit

On Friday August 21st and Saturday August 22nd, PortItalia Construction participated in a benefit to help The George Mark Children's House in San Leandro. This event was called The Sacred Leaf Benefit and was held in downtown San Jose. This was a two-night event in which we participated both nights. PortItalia Construction donated 4 hours of free labor for the raffle drawing on both nights. There were two winners of this prize, both of which have already contacted us to receive their free hours of labor. Our goal was to offer something that could truly help someone in need around their home, perhaps finishing a "honey-do" list for someone. We were trying to give back to the community instead of trying to reap the rewards of the next large remodeling endeavor. We were happy to learn that both winners fall within the category we were trying to target and projects will begin relatively soon. We want to sincerely thank Mary Zuchowski for allowing us to be a part of this special event and we look forward to the opportunity to do it again.

Summertime

We at PortItalia hope that you and your families are enjoying the many benefits of summer. It has been a very productive one for us and has kept us from being able to update our blog as much as we would like. We are in the process of updating many pages within our website and photo galleries. In the meantime, thank you so much for checking back with us and viewing our progress. Sadly, many of our smaller projects this summer went undocumented, however we hope to share more updates on a more consistent basis once our schedules allow.

Enjoy the last month of summer, and get ready to prepare for Fall. That is precisely what the Morello Family is doing while preparing for a new Baby Girl. If we thought the summer was busy, the Fall is about to become crazy!

Project Villa-Kyle (Quebec) - Before

Today we began a guest bathroom remodel for an existing client - Project Villa-Kyle (Quebec). This remodel is to include all new plumbing, new tile, new texture, new electrical. The works. The homeowner had her own vision for this space and supplied us with the materials. We will have final photos within the next month. Here are the before photos of the guest bathroom.

In May, we began their master bathroom remodel which also included the works. Here are the final photos of that space.

Soon after the guest bathroom is complete, we are scheduled to remodel the master bedroom. Here are before photos of that space, to be transformed into a more modern space soon.

Project Morello - Semi Final

As of this afternoon, we are 90% complete with the Morello living room renovation. We moved the furniture back into the room in time for an event, leaving only a few minor touch-ups to be completed. We will be finishing up the recess lighting, vent covers, Venetian Plaster, baseboards, and minor touch-ups to the ceiling beams. Overall the project was a success. Seeing is believing. Please be sure to check out previous posts of the beginning and progress stages to see how far we have come.

Project Osborne - Final

We have completed the Osborne project that consisted of a brand new kitchen, new laundry room, master bedroom, master bathroom, renovated hallway and entryway to front door. This also included new doors, new casings, new baseboards, flooring and paint throughout the entire house. I am especially proud to say that this was the smoothest and most efficient project that has been completed on time since the PortItalia doors have been opened. The entire crew pulled together and worked cohesively from start to finish. Many thanks to the PortItalia crew, including the subcontractors, for all their hard work and diligence.

Below are the photos to prove the caliber of work we put forth throughout this house. Please check out the before photos in the previous posts to see how far we have come. The transformation is astounding.
